Back in July 2010, WADS staged an open-air production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was such fun that WADS is doing it again. But it won’t be the same as before, as the company is looking at a different and exciting new interpretation. It’ll have a 90s vibe; sort of Shakespeare meets the Spice Girls. A Midsummer Spice Dream, perhaps:

One turf shall serve as pillow for us both;
One heart, one bed, two bosoms and one troth.
Be a little bit wiser baby. Put it on, put it on,
'Cause tonight is the night when two become one.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed at Bere Mill in Whitchurch (What3Words ///meanest.lucky.nerd) by kind permission of Rupert and Elizabeth Nabarro, from 16 to 18 July 2026

“Meet me in the palace wood, a mile without the town, by moonlight; there will we rehearse…
In the meantime I will draw a bill of properties, such as our play wants, what it really, REALLY wants.”

PS - if you’d like to get involved with props, front of house, music, etc. for this production, come along to a WADS’ club night, every Tuesday 3 at 8pm in Whitchurch Parish Hall, email us at wadswhitchurch@gmail.com, or telephone 07903 194767.

Dream on...
